Upon arrival the grounds were buzzing with eager fashion experts, buyers and socialites, eloquent and poised and swarmed by press, candidly waiting to enter. “The crowds could be described as peacocks as apposed to crows”. Suzy Menkes, New York Times Fashion writer.

Once inside, sellers, brands and makers eagerly waited to promote there latest trends and styles. Today was the day to be seen. Men and women dressed in fines furs, cashmere, velvet, shoes shined and perched delicately upon a wall to be seen by everyone.

Moving into the main pavilion there where hundreds of stalls to explore. This feature is one unique to the fair as apposed to a fashion show. It gives buyers the ability to interact, touch and hold items that would normally only be able to be viewed on a catwalk.

Not only did we spend the day looking at men’s fashion but people watching. We sat, mostly to give our feet a rest, to watch the interactions of the immensely stylish people that surrounded us. Immaculate men would stand candidly on the phone ,not actually taking a call, while being snapped by street style photographers. Women in the lavish fur coats, stood next to men in shiny brogues, pouting behind large glasses.

What caught my eye was the simple transition between high end men’s wear, suits, coats, ties and hats to urban, modern street wear. Pitti encapsulated every aspect of men’s fashion and effortlessly brought both elements together in the one fair. Traditional style shoes were given a street style tweak, bridging the gap between very polar styles. What a spectacular and fashionable day we had.

Till next time, Ciao Pitti.
